FOCUS ON…
CALIFORNIA PINOT NOIR
THE NEW VINTAGE OF SADLER WELLS HAS ARRIVED!
2003 Sadler Wells Pinot Noir
Sonoma Coast - This newcomer to the Sonoma
winemaking scene has plenty of experience in the world of
wine. Jean Spear and Becky Larson are wine industry
veterans with access to some of the most coveted vineyards
on the Sonoma Coast. They manage the vineyards themselves
in order to maintain strict quality controls and reduce
yields. Additionally, they hold back the release of their
wines in order to present a settled, finished product. With
each successive release since 2001, this Pinot Noir producer
just keeps getting better. We were struck with just how
Burgundy-like this offering was with its "terroir" profile
of dusty black cherry notes, earthy core and complex meaty
aromas. Fine tannins and fine length make this an
extraordinarily versatile wine, equally at home with pork,
poultry, salmon, or shellfish. |
